Our Lady of Divine Providence Minganti. Dimensions: 40 x 55.5 x 6.1 cm.

The plaque features an image of a half length Virgin Mary holding a sleeping Baby Jesus in her arms, wrapped in the folds of her cloak. This iconographic concept focuses on the theme of tender affection expressed in the face of the Virgin as she looks at her sleeping son and holds his hand. The moulded surface of this plaque displays the typical sense of linearity and elegantly shaped style of the ceramic sculptor, Domenico Minganti, who was head of the Cooperativa Ceramica d'Imola Art Division (ca. 1950). The range of colours is elegantly naturalist in line with the Imola ceramic tradition.
